Meditation is a powerful tool that everyone can use to enhance their lives, restore harmony and heal their body. Different meditation techniques can produce different benefits, so learning the different techniques allows you to know which technique to use for the desired result. The mastery in meditation is to know which technique to use when and how to combine the various techniques at will to maximize the benefits.

What is meditation?
The activity of meditation is a focusing of the entire attention upon a single point, while the experience of meditation is the result of having focused the entire attention upon a single activity to the point of mental absorption. The form of meditation (technique) is the method used to achieve the effect. The art of meditation is the intentional application of the most effective method(s) of meditation to use for producing the desire result(s).

By learning these 7 techniques, you can develop a successful meditation practice to enhance your life, health & well-being.

The techniques are:
Centering - using the conscious aspect of mind to achieve a state of non-thought and a delightful experience of mere being - great for stress reduction, deep peace, increased clarity & mental acuity, as well as improved objectivity
Buddhic Gaze - stimulates the subconscious to allow random memories for observation - helpful for memory recall and increased knowledge of self, beliefs, experiences & behaviors and useful for deep relaxation.
Reflective Meditation - purposeful & targeted stimulation of subconscious as an question or a search & find activity - potential benefits are increased self-awareness, improved memory, review destructive beliefs and habits to begin the change process, grief recovery.
Creative Visualization - uses the mind to consciously stimulate images, memories, or intuitive awareness about a topic of interest. Can be used for receiving images or for projecting images, feelings & thought forms. Can result in increased power of concentration & clarity, idea generation, health improvement, stress reduction, problem solving.
Chakra Meditation - Aligning and balancing the body’s energy system by focusing and stimulating energy centers with concentrated mind energy. Great for increasing energy levels and healing, ability to concentrate & control desires at will.
Mantra Meditation - (aka TM-Transcendental Meditation) - Use of a mantra (certain sound vibration - “OM” is a universally know mantra) to stimulate the super conscious to gain knowledge of spiritual truth, experience a state of extreme bliss, an initiation of spirit aka as “Nirvana”.
Contemplative Meditation - Stimulation of super conscious to contemplate and gain knowledge of an aspect of God or about a spiritual question for increased spiritual understanding.

Overall benefits of having a meditation practice:

* Improved health, will power, ability to learn, inner peace, memory, decision making ability
* Increased creativity, patience, tolerance of differences, self-esteem
* Relieves insomnia, anxiety, chronic pain.
* Induces mystical experiences, intuitive ideas, purification of the soul, spiritual evolution

The Benson-Henry Institute for Mind-Body Medicine (aka Mind Body Medical Institute) at Harvard Medical School have documented & published many health benefits. Also the Institute of Noetic Sciences have done many studies on Meditation.

I have a daily meditation practice myself where I practice many of these techniques daily.
